Does anyone remember those higher education grants for 500 quid that you got for ALL adults who wanted higher education? ( im going back about 6-8 years ago now) I cant remember what they were called.

Shed loads of "traning agencies " set themselves up to train people in "IT skills" and there were loads of them trying to sign me up in tescos/ sainsburys/ outside trainstations, then they got canned after these training agencies were seen for the sham operations they were :(
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • Asking for a legit HIP trainer is as daft as asking for a kosher Estate Agent or an independant IFA.

I'll give them money over my dead body. 2 bedroom bungalow for sale with large study (fit double bed) anybody?

    :)

    Yes Bugly

But the around £3,500 is the cost to train to become just a Domestic Energy Assessor to provide the EPC's. This is after you have taken and passed 3 exams.

If you want to be a Home Inspector and be able to provide HCR's (Home condition reports including an EPC) you have to take and pass 7 exams in total and thats about another £8,000 that they want from you.

I forgot to menton that while waiting for my interview I sat in the trainee's refreshment room by mistake (when the interveiwer finally found me there she was not pleased!)

I counted about 25 people there in 2 classrooms taking the course. I talked to 3 or 4 trainee's about the the Home Inspecor course and all of them complained that the course as taking much longer then they had been promised because they could not book their stage exams because " there were not enough exam dates available " as they were already taken by other trainees on the course. (only 36 days of your course are classroom based)

Just the 25 people that I saw on that one day represent turnover of some £300,000 to this training outfit!

But I believe over 12 months they will take more like £3,500,000 plus this firm have 3 other Home Inspector training Centres
so that's more like £14,000,000 of income! Not bad for just renting some offices and placing a few adverts in regional newspapers.

When you say Home Reports what do you mean - HCR or EPC?

Both, but it would be nice to hear that you are doing 8 Home Condition Report's per week? :j

We take on about 200 properties a year. Since 1st Aug we had our first 4 bed last week and were unable to provide a HIP because the owner failed credit reference. With that in mind, to date, there have been zero HCR or EPC’s done on properties we have listed.

As far as HCR's are concerned, in my opinion, I can't see anyone wanting these until they are legally required.

From 10th September I expect this will change significantly as most of our stock is 3 bedroom. So we're looking at about say 12 EPC's a month or there abouts through each successful EA.
