Tension rod what's the alternative

I am using a long tension rod to support my net curtains. Despite using 4 support brackets in the middle, it keeps coming down. I am wondering whether anybody has managed to use them with success. No problem with the short one, it does the job ok. It seems to glide on the upvc and am fed up of having to try to put it back. I am thinking the drill and usual the rod wire but need some advice what screws to use in solid wall. Thanks

If you are planning on always having nets up the window, super glue some of the brackets to the window frame, one each end and one in the middle.
MIL used these on her windows; http://www.wilko.com/curtain-track+accessories/wilko-self-adhesive-centre-support/invt/0287708
We've just bought the tension rods for ours, as the reviews on wilkinsons site were very good, hope ours last better than yours0 -
I have already bought those, there are hopeless, will try to superglue them. Thanks0

You could try one of these:
http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=110&storeId=10151&partNumber=782400
They come in different lengths, require no gluing or drilling and, better still, Homebase have 15% off this weekend. They fit inside the window recess.

I use these ones: http://www.dunelm-mill.com/shop/tension-rod-50209
and they work great - the widest window they were used in is 180cm wide and the only time they fell was when demon cat tried to climb up the nets (and he's suffering from feline middle-aged spread!)
The trick is to extend them (by twisting) so they are slightly wider than the gap you are putting them in and then push it to size to fit it into the gap - it's that tension you need to keep it in place.
The middle brackets if you use them aren't there to keep the rod in place just to prevent sagging.0 -
The rod I am using measures 230 cms, that's how wide the window is. I have used three cup hooks to prevent them sagging in the middle. My main problem is sagging as the cup hooks do not stay put. Anybody has any sucess in supergluing them on the UPVC frame. That's what I am intending to do. Curtains rods seem a good idea as they are thicker but do not know whether I can buy the long length. Thanks0

I have worked as a curtain fitter for about 10 years.
230cm is quite long for a tension rod....However you can use them but only use integra...in my experience all cheaper ones on that length would sag or drop..you need one with a decent spring. As said, use integra and make sure the back screw is tight so you can really push it in tight.
Hope this helps0
