Windows 7 update failure ?

Options
Having a problem with the windows update feature on my Acer PC , basically I log on and the message shows as
" updating windows , please do not turn off your pc "
it then starts the update procedure and then shows the following message on the screen .........
" Failure to update , windows reverting changes "
then PC go`s to the sign in page again where I log in and use as usual !
Thoughts , solutions please :) my PC is set to auto updates on windows 7 home premium !
Regards

turn off auto-updates, and keep running windows update manually until the machine has caught up with itself...then once no more are found on a manual check, set windows update to notify you but you choose when to install. This should put you back on track. The problem with auto-updating can be exactly as you describe, at worst you could be left with an unbootable machine if you decide to power it down while it's in the middle of updating system files :(
