How long does a DLA decision usually take?

I've been waiting for a decision about a change of circumstances for a few months (I started work, have had an indefinite award since I was young due to ASD/Dyspraxia) it's making me feel sick with worry!
What is the easiest way to end my claim? I don't want to have to deal with this any more I can just about live on my wage alone so it doesn't matter too much.
With my luck they will say I'm no longer entitled and send me a bill for 6 months worth of overpayments...

You should be able to just phone up and cancel the claim.
In my experience, it takes around 10-13 weeks for a decision to be made.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
50p saver #40 £20 banked
Virtual sealed pot #178 £80.250 -

This decision cannot be retrospective.0 -
they do seem to be a bit quicker lately.
i had a review, a refusal and a reconsideration and new award all withing 12 weeks.
you wont owe them anything. if they decide to stop your award, payments will stop immediately that the decision is made0 -

They can however simply suspend it!0 -
hi
The DLA people received my form on a Monday and I had my decision letter on the Thursday of the same week - obviously this unfortunately isn't the case for you but if Roger and Nannytone are right (they usually are) that you continue to be entitled and you won't owe them anything then I'd just keep waiting, it appears you have nothing to lose if you're already considering cancelling your claim. Surely the worst that can happen is that they tell you you are no longer entitled?
I totally understand your worries, you are not alone there.0 -

Until a decision is made about your entitlement, your payments are allowed, and there will not be anything to be repaid.
However, working does not exclude you from getting DLA, so they may decide you are still entitled to it anyway.
You can phone, if you want to know what's happening, but there won't be any overpayment.
Many claims and reviews are delayed at the moment because of the audits being carried out to try and get more correct decisions.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -

Thanks everyone.
Still nothing. It has been 5 months. I have sent 3 emails to them since January to chase it up and ask why I have heard nothing and they have all been ignored (the e-mail address is correct and the one I used to discuss it with them shortly before they no longer replied) I'm constantly worrying about this. I want to cancel my claim I'm fed up of being on egg shells.0 -
