I am getting the following error message when booting my laptop.
There is a problem starting
C:\Users\Mum\AppData\Local\Conduit\BackgroundContainer\BackgroundContainer.dll
The specified module could not be found.
Then when I go into Google chrome it will not connect gives me Unable to connect to Proxy server! which to the best of my knowledge I do not have. The same in IE
But the internet connection is working fine on my iPad, where I am sending this from.
Help!

What anti-virus are you running?
First hit with google...

That might well be the solution you were looking for.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
Avast, and it is up to date.
Yes did find that, and ran Malwarebytes quick scan found a couple of things, one of which was the "contained", deleted and restarted, still got. Set off a full scan (still running) and it has found 2 items again, waiting to see what they are.
Have not been able to find it in Task Scheduler.

Had this problem myself last week. You can get rid by going into your settings. Go to advanced and uncheck the proxy server box. I have a feeling this is caused by malware or something equally nasty so do some scans to clean up."'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

Hi folks
Thanks for the input, managed to sort out the proxy now via the LAN settings. Hopefully it will not do it again, but at least I know a fix for tht now.
However, the Conduit/BackgroundContainer issue remains. I ran a full Malwarebytes scan overnight, and it found it again, and I removed it again, but still there when rebooting.??
Going to do a CCleaner now, and will report back.

I followed the Microsoft link and loaded Autoruns, which enabled me to delete the start up option, so now sorted.
Thanks again everyone.
