Is it worth a punt/can they be trusted?

There's a company, which advertises on the radio, saying they will check if you can reclaim PPI, and you don't even need a account numbers, just tell them which bank(s), Credit Card(s) etc. you have had.

I have had loans, Credit Cards etc. in the past, but don't think I can claim back PPI, as I'm not aware they were mis-sold.

However, if this company will do all the checking, and only take a percentage of any money recovered, I'm thinking it might be worth a punt.

So, absolutely no difference to doing it yourself.

They dont do any checking. Your details are not in the public domain. They will just put in a complaint telling the bank that it applies to all loans, credit cards etc taken by you. No different to you doing the same.

  • Please, please do not go to any firm. I have reclaimed thousands and encouraged friends and work colleagues todo the same. All without using any claims company. Everytime I get a claim upheld, I mentally take a third off and think how I would feel if I had to give it away. There are plenty of knowledgable people about on this forums all over the internet who will point you in the right direction with any questions/queries that you may have. I would start with a simple phonecall to the banks etc who should be able to tell you if you have paid ppi. Go on, give it a try
  • I claimed back thousands and became debt free with the money. I did it all on my own. I just called the creditors, they advised if I had PPI, they then sent a form, I waited for a while for them to confirm that the complaint would be upheld and when I should get the money. I would also call them just to confirm how much I would be getting.

It is really not that hard or time-consuming like their 'customer testimonies' claim otherwise. Just keep a diarised record of all correspondence.

It's not even THAT complex for most complainants...

They are not "checking" anything. What they do is act on your behalf and represent you in making a complaint to your provider. However, it goes without saying that you actually neeed to have something to complain about in order for them to do this. If you weren't mis-sold the product then there is no complaint. However, that will not stop these scumbags. All they want is your signature and then they will go making all sorts of fraudulent try-it-on complaints falsely accusing people of allsorts.

If you DO think you were mis-sold a policy then write directly to the provider in question and outline the reasons. They will then investigate the matter.
