Fees for the property I'm about to rent ....

£55 for full reference for main income earner; plus £25 to credit check (only) my partner

£50 for tenancy agreement - LL also paying £50

Deposit is six week's rent (but arguably, not "a fee").

    This is through Humberts

I rather suspect that they make more money from the LL - who knows what they were charged

Also, Humberts are primarily an EA (and specialise in Equestrian/Rural/Agricultural property), so the Lettings side is secondary to their main business income.

Frightfully, awfully nice man that we're dealing with. Probably has "breeding" if you see what I mean :rotfl:

Point to remember folks that if an agency tries to charge you just for registering with them this is illegal and the local trading standards department will be very interested in them.

Many agency's round here tried it until the trading standards got involved
