Hen night ideas ?

If you want to hen, check out cheap flights to & from somewhere where the booze is cheap & have a weekend away from all wedding stuff.
Or have a picnic in a beautiful location (top of a Munroe? Brecon Beacon? that sort of views for weeks, out of breath out of doors type spot) then roll down the hill for a pedicure & afternoon tea?!
Just don't let anyone spend too much or drink too much!0 -
My hen night was a paint a piece of pottery afternoon at an art cafe I found in London. They let us buy in pizza from across the road. Still have a plate my hens bought and decorated for me 15 years on. That plate means a mountain to me - each hen decorated a section and brings back so many happy memories every time i use it.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I don't have any suggestions for activities as such but if there is anything that you do fancy, e.g. spa, tea at a hotel etc etc, then go to the venue's website and get yourself on the mailing list.
You will probably get emails with special offers and discounts for "members" and so on, which may well save you a few quid.
We are going to a theatre next week for my sister's boyfriend's birthday and a few of us have got onto the mailing list so are getting tickets for half price!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
I'm doing an afternoon tea followed by a cocktail class for my hen do. I like cake, coffee and cocktails so it's a perfect combo for me. Although if everyone had lived near me I'd probably just have had people over to mine for pizza, wine and a natter
Just pick something you enjoy doing....everyone will be happy to do what you want to do!Mortgage-free wannabe 2025 £571/30000 -
I don't know anyone who knew what was happening on their hen day/night, the bridesmaids always organise it in secret? Won't your friends want to do that for you? If they know you well they won't pick things you'd hate.0

If you don't want to spend much money, afternoon tea - everyone bring a contribution - either at someone's house or hire a cheap hall.
A variation is a nice countryside walk and tea or a meal at a pretty local cafe.
One of my favourites if you are spending more is to learn some dancing or choir-style singing, and perform at the wedding.0 -
For my best friend's hen party we did pottery painting (which was a present and souvenir for bride and groom) followed by tea and cake/sandwiches at a posh hotel. It was fab, not too expensive, and alcohol free.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Really? I was surprised recently when invited to a hen do organised by the bridesmaid, with the bride knowing nothing about the details. All others I have been invited to (including my own) the bride was involved in the planning. Guess everyone's experiences are different!
It isn't great that the hen night I have been invited to, that is a surprise for the bride, involves clubbing...and only a few weeks ago the bride was moaning to me about how much she hates clubbing and how her sister (bridesmaid...) dragged her out over Christmas and it was awful and she never wants to do it again! Eek!0 -

Yeah, I've never personally known any to be just organised by the bridesmaid(s) either, although I have read about it happening. Personally, I would want to be involved in the planning, but then again, I don't really like surprises lol!
My own personal preferences are either a spa, activity weekend, or a weekend away of shopping/theatre/gig....my absolute nightmare would be the 'typical' hen night with L Plates, Strippers etc.0 -
Yeah I've never known anyone to have a clue what they'd be doing, it's always a big secret!
I had no idea what mine would be and last year I planned my sisters along with her 3 other bridesmaids and a couple of years ago organised one of my friends with her sister & other bridesmaid. I've been to a few others and heard about other friends of friends and the bride is always kept in the dark and just told what to wear!
The only bride I knew who knew what was happening was one whose aunt had a holiday home in Spain so her & her friends went there for a long weekend.0
