Over CC limit charge - will this go on my file?

I'm so cross with myself and Barclaycard.
I am trying to improve my credit score as we are going to be remortgaging this year. I completely paid off one of my CC and made sure to ask if there were any pending transactions. They said no.
I then received a statement with two transactions from January and a £12 charge for going over my credit limit - even though I had no balance!
They have refunded me the £12 but my main concern is my credit file. Will the charge be an 'internal' charge or will it affect my score? Bcard have said no but tbh I didn't really get a great deal of confidence from the lady on the phone.
Thanks in advance!

Why are you annoyed with Barclaycard? They wouldn't know what you'd spent in January if the retailer/merchant acquirer hadn't notified them. It's down to you to monitor your spending, not Barclaycard. Perhaps going forward you should keep your receipts and reconcile them with your monthly statement when it arrives.
As to the reporting, they may report that your balance exceeded your limit, as in...
Balance: £2,400
Limit: £2,300
...but you won't see a '1' on your file if that's what you're worried about.0
