Radio Controlled Model Car Battery

My kids were given a radio controlled model car.
Its a Fast Lane R/C Ford Ranger.
The instructions say it takes 5 x AA batteries which fit in a caddy or a 1 x 6v rechargeable battery pack (not included).
Trouble is that it eats normal alkaline batteries and it doesn't work particulary well on rechareable AA batteries.
I'd like to get the rechargeable battery pack, but the instructions don't give any model number etc for the battery pack.
I've Googled myself to death (Oooh er Missus!) but without success.
I can't even find a web site for the manufacturer.
Any help/suggestions gratefully accepted.
Cheers

O.K... 5 x 1.5v is 7.5 volts, most nicad racing packs are 7.2volts but are a lot bigger than AA size cells (the reason they are poor), do a search on sleazebay you should find a 7.2v nicad pack and charger for around a tenner (almost universal) you'll have to graft the nicad pack onto the car (basic electrical skills) with one of the on it should last 3 time longer and charge better, if it all sounds like dish water to you, don't bother0 -
Do a search on Ebay for a seller called Vapextech.
They sell all sorts of very good quality rechargable batteries.
I get all my rechargables from them, they have an excellent feedback rating and I am not affiliated in any way whatsoever.0 -
you will not be able to shoe horn a 7.2V pack in either stick or saddle config in to that car.0

Thanks for the input folks, I'll do some research when I get a minute.
