Cheap replacement Ford keys

Options
We bought a 03 Ford Fiesta but it only came with one key. I asked a local key cutter and was told a replacement would cost in excess of £100 and could only be obtained from Ford. I then asked Timpsons in Sainsburys and result! They provided me with spare keys, all programmed and working for just £35 each. I'd trawled the internet (including this site) and nowhere did I find any mention of Timpsons.
Hope this helps someone else. In our house, 4 people share 3 cars so only having one key meant we might have forgotten who had it last.

  • All Timpsons do is clone the original key transponder.

As above you have a cloned key. It has the same code as your original.

Someone still has a spare key. Your cannot lock that key out with a cloned key.

If you lose a key then you cant lock that out either because it will lock the other key also.

Does the new key from Timpsons just operate manually or does it have the open/lock functions on it too?

Ive just bought an 03 plate Mondeo with only one key, would like a spare one but don't want to run to £100 for one.

    Many thanks - avenue

For £35 its just the key to open the door and use in ignitition. If you want a remote control one they are extra.

Dont you just do the on..off.on..press buttons on the working key then every other key to program.

Did this on 2005 mondeo when 2nd key unlock/lock buttons not worked

Put key in ignition and turn from 0 to II four times in ten seconds. There will usually be a beep, tone or the immobiliser light will come on solid but this is not guaranteed to happen.Press any button on the fob and you should get a beep/tonr to acknowledge the fob.Wait approx twenty seconds for the programming phase exits.

That programs the remote fob. Yes.

But to add a new key to the PATS immobiliser system so it will start the car you need 2 unique and working keys.
Or a dealer/locksmith with the tools to plug the car in and add the new key.

If they dont plug the car in then its not a new unique key. Just a clone.
