Problems with supposedly owing for gas & electric

I'm with Powergen for my electric on a meter. At one point I lost my card & had to use an emergency npower card for AGES before they sent me a new one. This was 3 years ago & Powergen still has me down as owing over a hundred pounds, I have been in contact with them over both email & phone & they still havbent claimed it back off npower. At one point they even tried to claim it off British Gas (my previous provider). I dont like it looking like I'm in debt & I cant change provider until its sorted, Any advice?
Also, my Gas meter wasnt updated when the price of gas changed, so ScottishPower have sent a letter saying they'll take £6 off a week via a message to the meter. It still hasnt started & it was meant to over a month ago, should I ring/email?
Any help gladly received.

Claim the payments from nPower yourself and then pay the bill when it comes through. In future don't use other people's cards, or if you have to keep the receipts and claim the money back yourself asap.
I would also suggest getting in touch with SP, otherwise a debt will continue to grow and you will end up paying more in the end.0 -
Thanks for the advice, shall be on the phone to Npower 1st thing on Monday.
I had no choice about using another companys card as Powergen were taking their time sending me a new one & I had to have an emergency one or do without electric, only Npower used to do these, sure they made a tidy sum out of them as well! You cant take a step forward with both feet on the ground0 -
If there is a delay in getting a new card sent out, keep phoning your provider and get them to come out and reset the meter or give you extra credit. It may be a pain, but at least you don't get unexpected bills!0
