Feel so stupid!

Ok, so I go to the cash machine outside the shop this morning (about 7:15) then nipped into the shop - rolls for brekkie hence the early morning trip - and I only forgot the £20 from the machine. ran back out but no money. There was no one else around so am I correct in assuming that the machine will have swallowed the money back in? and if so will I get it back?

If the machine has retracted the money it will be processed next working day (Monday) and should drop back into your account the day after that (Tuesday). If not, raise an ATM dispute with your bank and they'll contact the ATM owner to see if it balanced. If someone's grabbed it and done a runner you're out of luck.

thanks. just feel so stupid, pretty sure no one else was around. il pop to bank on way to work and ask them.

This happened to me with a Natwest machine. I raised it with them and it took them weeks to call me to say that the money hadn't been retained. Very odd as there was no one else around at the time. A magpie must have swooped down, perhaps attracted by the shiny glint of the hologram.

Myself and another lady were walking near a cash machine and both noticed at the same time, a wad of cash hanging out of it. We both ran towards it and it was gobbled back into the machine. I went into the shop and shouted if anyone had just used the machine outside. A poor young lady had, and forgot to take her money. She explained that she was on anti-depressants and was struggling with them. I gave her my number as a witness and she rang me about 2 weeks later to say that the bank had refunded her.

I have done this twice, lol. Once it was credited back automatically and another time I contacted my bank to get it back. When I contacted the bank they said they would raise a dispute the ATM owner and after about a month they got back to me to say they had no response so re-credited the money.

The new procedures now state that they must refund you 'immediately' and then investigate unless they have a very good case not to.
If the money is not in your account by Monday then contact them.

Pretty much what the bank confirmed. they'll receive ATM report by Tuesday and if it doesn't show on that they can raise a claim on the Thursday. so I should hopefully get it within the week

glad its not just me lol. I blame it on being so early in the morning and suffering from a horrid head cold.

I think the case would be the customer has been negligent.

wow, if it hasn't been grabbed by someone you are very lucky! Its quite busy where we live and I'm sure whatever time of day or night that someone would have grabbed it if we had done that same thing.
Hope you get it back into your bank.
