Boarder edging?

I have a small 'yarden' that is mostly paved but has a smallish boarder along the northern wall, and then cutting across the corner. Its currently edged with the green lawn edging that comes in a roll, but that's disintegrating and I need something else to edge the boarder to stop the soil washing away as there is a slope.The soil is quite heavy clay so holds a lot of water. Any ideas on a cheap solution as this is a rented house and I don't want to be spending a fortune? This is what it looked like last April before the edging got completely destroyed.

Cheapest solution I could give you , but don't know if possible in a rented property.

Stack up the top soil , dig out some subsoil , replace top soil.
The you only have to dispose of the subsoil ??
Perfect solution with out costing a penny.

BUT
Where do you spread the subsoil ??

Hello.

You can buy plastic edging on a roll - it's about 6" high and would be a good cheap quickfix - they often have stuff like this in the £1 shop - good luck
