Storage heater bricks - how long to cool down

We recently had a fire in one of our old storage heaters. For safety, we have decided to replace all of them with newer thermostatically controlled models, they were getting old anyway and we will feel safer. The electrician is coming around next Friday to fit.
Can anyone advise how long beforehand we should switch off the remaining units in order to make the bricks safe to handle? We have a couple of back up plug in heaters, but if it gets cold we'll want to keep them warm for as long as possible.
Many thanks.

Depends on ambient temperature in the room that the heater is installed, cooler the room faster the loss of heat.0

Thanks for your answers everyone. The house was built in 1994, so no asbestos thankfully (did also check the list to confirm this). Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
