Kenwood kettle leaks

Have any members experienced Kenwood plastic jug kettles leaking from the base? I have a 5 year old "eco-kettle" that is leaking if left with water in and switched off.

Call them and see what they say, pretty good normally and likely to offer you 20-50% off of a new kettle0

Do you have a consumer rights issue you would like help with?
Maybe you could read MSE's Consumer Rights guide for a start, then of course feel free to ask any questions.
Be quick though, most of your consumer rights only last up to six years.0 -
5 years old, what exactly do you expect?0

I think the point is, partly, that it's not very "ECO", is it? 5 years old and fit for scrapping.
I've got a cheap POS Argos kettle that's 15 years old at least, it doesn't leak. It's more ECO than the Kenwood above, and probably cost a lot less. This is clearly wrong
If they say "you've had the expected life out of it, no proportional refund/repair - buy a new one", you'll know that the product is not quite as shiny/ECO/quality as you thought.0 -

I'm not the OP. However, I'd have to say, don't descale it, the scale helps block up the potential leaks0 -

But that's not what Kenwood say, and by not descaling it you give them a very good reason to refuse to make a goodwill gesture.

the following is shown for all Kenwood kettles.
To prolong the life of your new kettle, descaling should be carried out on a regular basis. The frequency required will depend on your water hardness.
To avoid leaks, ensure your kettle is descaled every 1 to 3 months.

I suppose that depends on where the poster lives. Where I live, we dont have to ever descale anything. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

It was a joke. Like not cleaning your car because the rust is holding it together. Don't go quoting your Haynes manual at me now!
Anyway, it doesn't matter what Kenwood say, as they have no jurisdiction over my working, non leaking, Argos POS kettle.
Maybe the OP could answer your questions?0
