Well I didn't even know abou sear and stew ones, that's a new one to me. That would be the one to go for as it can be a bit of a nuisance getting the frying pan out to sear but a bonus if this can be done in the one pot.0

If you only wish to save energy you would probably be better off getting a pressure cooker
HI
Gas hob and electric twin oven
This is a good thought!
Our small oven is a bit 'weak' unless you let it heat up for an age .. and the big oven it great if you can put lots in, but seems a waste if we just want jacket spuds!
Speed however is not really an issue, time wise (if you know what i mean) which is a pressure cooker's Star turn .. just wanted to cook some of our smaller, less complicated meals by a more efficient method .. Sometimes i find myself putting our oven on to start cooking and then having to trip off and do something else .. drip-drip goes the power on nothing
I also have more time, late morning or early afternoon, than i do around school pick up time .. It would be time efficient too, to set meals off then and have them ready later .. It would give me more time with my children when they get in too, rather than going hammer and tongs at the pots and pans!
I like the idea too of prepping (prepping! How mid-West am i?) meals in advance to save on time overall .. I have a very busy and complicated day (don't we all?) and i need to find ways to do 'everything' and have a quality to how i do it
I suppose it is a balance between using my time more efficiently and saving money on how i cook, rather than a speedy meal, but i do really appreciate your lateral thinking
