Hullo all
I am sure this question has been asked a hundred times before, but the MSE search comes up with every post including the phrase!
I am thinking of getting a slow cooker .. There are just 3 of us, so it needn't be a huge one .. 3.5L looks adequate (although i've not seen one in the flesh, so just imagining the size)
Do not have a microwave as i've never seen the 'real' use of them .. Cook A LOT in our oven though and wanted some way of cutting the running costs .. Have looked at various models and they seem much of a muchness .. Not going to hammering it everyday, just want it for say, 2/3 days a week if that
Saw this model on Tescolditz at £17!
Crock-pot 3.5L
Is this an okay one to go for, or by paying more, would i really get more?
Does anyone have any suggestions please?

I've had the Argos Cookworks one a few years now and got no complaints. The small one is £12 and £19 for the big one.
If you've got room in the cupboard i'd always get the big one. Once you start you will use it. I think those Argos ones have 5* reviewsLiverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Thank you SailorSam ... You is out of the traps like a whippet!
Are the big ones 5L?
My only worry would be that it would be too big for smaller meals .. I've seen that people roast small chickens in some ... Would you need a big one for that?LittleBill ... "The riches of a man can be measured by what he can do without"0 -

I have a cheap asda version 3.5 litres. It cost £6. It does all I need it to. I can't do a whole chicken in it as its a round shape. But I have used it for many different recipes.0

If you want to cook chicken or anything else, this is the place to start.
There's a long long list or recipies for everything under the sun.

Thank you for that, it looks a mine of info .. I'll umm and ahh a bit more over size .. Maybe I'll go and take a look at some 6.5l ones to get an idea of exactly how big they are
Thank you all againLittleBill ... "The riches of a man can be measured by what he can do without"0 -
My first one was 3.5ltr - I was very happy with it as there's only 2 of us for most meals. However, I soon wanted to be able to 'batch cook' so went looking for 6.5ltr.
........... my son was very grateful when I got that as he ended up with the smaller one :rotfl:.0 -
I have a 6.5l and recently bought a 3.5l as the 6.5l one really is big.
For example...yesterday I did a beef casserole in the 3.5l with a 500g pack of diced beef and veg. I pretty much filled it and there is enough for 2 generous meals for the 3 of us. The 6.5l would make double that amount. Yes, you can fill it half up I suppose, but I treated myself i could just make one meal Iif I wanted to in the 3.5l. I don't think I could get a chicken in the 3.5l.....at least not the large ones I buy, but the 6.5l will definitely take a chicken. A decent size joint would fit easily in the 3.5l though. Dunno if that helps at all!PAYDBX 2016 #55 100% paid! :j Officially bad debt free...don't count my mortgage.

One with Auto Cook is worth considering.0

Mine is a round one but when it needs renewing I shall get an oval one as they take a chicken or large piece of brisket so much better.
This looks like a good one and is inexpensive
