Just about to send my bank charge claim in & have a question

Hello. Recieved my statements from Barclays last week after waiting almost seven weeks (So hang on in there if your still waiting & they returned my £10 cheque stating that they do not charge for this info) and have calculated the charges which total £1070!!! Am just about to send my letter in but still need to set up a parachute account. Am feeling a tad aprehensive as i dont have a great credit rating and need a cheque book with my account and have been refused this recently. Have any Barclays customers who have recieved their charges back had there accounts closed? Am really worried that the bank will close my account if i get paid out then wont have an account with a cheque book and am then in a whole world of trouble!!!!! Any suggestions for bank accounts that are likely to offer me a cheque book easily either? Many thanks for any help anyone can offer!!
