recover data from a dead laptop ?

Options
hi there

my friends laptop is no longer working , motherboard has died, is there any easy way the data from the hardrive can be recovered, could the hardrive be put into a pc and the data taken of that way, i am assuming it probably more technical when recovering a laptop hardrive rather than a pc one ? many thanks

If it's just the mainboard that has died and the hard drive is ok, you don't need to 'recover' as such. As you say, just plug into a desktop using an adaptor as an additional drive and copy across whatever info you need in Windows.

Use either a 2.5" to 3.5" IDE adapter kit as linked above, or a fit it into a USB 2.5" caddy http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/125132 which means it's portable.
