What am I to do?
Joint IS claim, partner on DLA. Received WHDS in 11/12 and 12/13 through Eon.
Moved last May, with British Gas
Applied for WHDS but were struggling with bills (prepayment) so moved to Eon, 20th/30th Dec for elec/gas
Applied for WHDS with Eon, but they had closed applications 6th Dec, rejected.
Eon said BG should, BG said Eon should. In the end, neither can help. One operator at Eon said she'd contact the Eon WHDS team, never heard back so rang today, note left saying just no.
Any advice? Sick of running out of gas before next (now) ESA payment. Thanks

Supplier at qualification date if the dates you supplied are correct should be BG .0

There is no set qualification date for the broader group, only the core group. For the broader group each supplier sets their own criteria. It seems that the OP left BG too early (you need to remain with the supplier until the payment is made), and joined E On too late - in which case they would qualify for neither.0 -

Hi SacredWolf
Just to confirm, we closed the 2013/14 Warm Home Discount scheme (Year 3) for Broader Group customers on 3 December 13. All applications received after this date won't be considered.
As you joined us after this date, I'm afraid, your application won't be considered by us.
Hope this helps point you in the right direction.

Budget. A £135 one off payment is neither here nor there in comparison with your week to week income. You have to take your total weekly incomes, balance it to monthly income, and learn to live with this. Of course an extra hundred pounds is nice but it is not going to make any real difference to you until you learn to accommodate your circumstances.SacredWolf wrote: »What am I to do?
Chances are your ESA/DLA premiums are not completely eaten up by direct disability costs - as such you should be in a position to be flexible and able to get on top of bills. You have moved off prepayment onto credit meters - ensure you take full advantage by paying by direct debit and switching to the cheapest tariffs (often with separate suppliers.) You will still qualify to be considered for (future) Warm Home payments but in any case will easily save more than £135 every year simply through the cheaper prices.
ETA: Eh? Oh, for some reason I read you had already moved off prepayments - but you haven't. Anyway, advice remains - get rid of the prepayment meters and pay by direct debit. Far easier to budget and much cheaper.0 -
For information, it's the company who supplied electricity on 20 July 13 who you need to apply to for Year 3.
Hope this helps point you in the right direction.

That date is irrelevant to broader group customers unless the individual supplier chooses to use it as part of their criteria - it is the qualifying date for the core group.0 -

This is NOT correct. if someone was a CORE customer then whoever their supplier was on 20.7.2013 pays out. If they were a BROADER customer then they need to be on supply with the company that did the assessment on the date the payment gets applied to their account.
This week I have already had 2 upset previous customers that I have had to tell them Eon have given them the wrong information.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0 -

Hi tomtontom and Joyful
Sorry for the duff info I posted last week. You're both spot on. The date of 20 July 13 is for Core Group customers not those applying under the Broader Group.
For Broader Group customers, whoever supplies the electricity when the payment is applied to accounts is the company who pays.
For the OP, though, the situation remains the same. As they didn't switch to us until after the 2013/14 scheme closed, their application for year 3 won't be considered.
Joyful, I've arranged for the details about Warm Home Discount to be re-briefed. This will help prevent the problems you mention.
I've also edited my earlier post to remove the bit about the date.
Thanks both for highlighting this and sorry again for the duff info.
