Okay, so this is a niche one...
Golf clubs. Bought a set of cheapies in the sale some while back. Couldn't hit them for love nor money. Went to my local pro for a decent set and had them custom fitted. Golf became fun again.
Maybe only golfers will understand.....!0 -
I see these complaints about cheap bin bags.
It's been a long time (at least 8 years) since I bought any bin bags. I use those bags that get put through the door wanting old clothes etc for charity - three or four a week arrive sometimes. Turn 'em inside out and line the dustbin. They're stronger than cheap bin bags and so plentiful you can use as many as you like.
Agree about cheap dishwash and loo paper. Both = ugh!
Argos electrical stuff like toasters and kettles are a bit of a naff purchase, unless you want to replace every 6-12 months.0 -
In a word - haggis! My wife spotted a bargain offer on this Scottish delicacy in Lidl and cooked up a fine looking meal. But faster than one of these wee beasties can disappear down their burrows, the meal ended up in the bin leaving the bairns with unpleasant memories of "chewy mince" and gristle. Never skimp on yer haggis folks - never.0

I had laminate flooring put down throughout all my downstairs rooms and have never been totally happy with it. I could have, just about, afforded real wood flooring but it seemed sooooo expensive at the time so went for the cheaper option. Always regretted it2kWp Solar PV - 10*200W Kioto, SMA Sunny Boy 2000HF, SSE facing, some shading in winter, 37° pitch, installed Jun-2011, inverter replaced Sep-2017 AND Feb-2022.0

I will never compromise on teabags! Bought the cheapo Morrisons ones to try one day and was begging my dad for some of his lovely Tetley out the teapot after the first sip.
I can't stand cheap cola or irn bru, just doesn't taste the same at all."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

Know this has been mentioned before on the forum, but just to say again that we have changed from premium brand (37p per roll when on offer for 16 pack) to Nicky Quilted at £3.99 for 18 rolls in Home Bargains = 22p per roll. It is also sold via Ocado for £1.69 for four. Apparently both lab and consumer tests showed this Italian made roll is every bit as good as premium rolls just not quite as long. We can live with that bearing in mind the cheaper cost per roll and have certainly found it to be very good indeed and highly recommend it.0

I'd agree with everyone who has complained about bin bags. Some of them are so thin, they are see-through. I have 10 denier tights that are more opaque.
I made the mistake of buying a smart-price roll of small bags for pedal bins. They annoyed me so much because they were just too short and when you dropped something in the bin, the whole bag collapsed down around it. I now use the bags for packing things when I'm going away - ideal for shoes and toiletries. I pack the roll and use the bags on my return journey, if I've bought additional items.if i had known then what i know now0 -
Definitely been there with bin bags, paint, washing up liquid and shoes.
Sainsburys basics shower gel was like dousing myself in toilet duck - I go for the branded-on-offer option now. ASDA Smart Price soup tasted like melted play-doh. Rank.0 -

That's a good idea about the charity bags but I don't think I've had any for ages!0 -
Dentist! A £6 check-up a few months earlier could have saved me weeks of tooth pain, and £120 on a root canal bill (I could have had the tooth out for £15, but wasn't willing to give up on it yet!) It probably cost me more than £6 in whiskey when I was trying to numb my gums before finally making a dentist appointment.
I also avoid value loo-roll, kitchen roll, bin bags, washing up liquid, and tea-bags. I have wasted money buying these things and then having to go out and buy a product that works!
Cheap clothes too, as in Primarky stuff. Most of it is poor quality, goes out of shape, and fades or tears quickly. Second hand clothes often hold out much better and tend to be cheaper than Primark is these days anyway!
I once bought a cheap buggy off ebay. It was £20 delivered and my god it was awful. Looked like it had been manufactured by the Hello Kitty people, with their amazing ability to make plasticy cheap, breakable goods. So flimsy, the frame rocked when setting an 16month old child in it. The instructions (very loosely translated from an Asian language into "English") were hilarious but entirely unhelpful and as a result the buggy broke because I didn't understand the bit that said you had to fold up the seat edge before collapsing the buggy. Broke first use, unusable after that. Never again!
