Parcel Force always send a letter informing you of the charges.

You pay the charge by Credit or Debit Card over the phone, or in person at a ParcelForce Office, then they deliver the following day.

'Charging' is awaiting the charges to be calculated

'Charges' are after they have been applied

There will be another £8 added for Parcel Force handling. Parcel Force pay the charges on your behalf, so charge you for the privilege!!
  • It will eventually look something like this.

19-06-2007 23:58 XXX Central Depot Out for delivery
19-06-2007 11:55 XXX Central Depot Delivery rescheduled
16-06-2007 04:07 XXX Central Depot Awaiting payment of charges
16-06-2007 02:47 XXX Central Depot Arrived at delivery depot
16-06-2007 00:41 National Hub Sorted in hub
15-06-2007 19:25 International Hub RELEASED WITH CHARGES
14-06-2007 23:07 International Hub AWAITING CUSTOMS CHARGING

Parcel Force will not deliver until you have paid the charges. You can't pay the driver. You have to pay over the phone or at the local depot if you prefer to do a pick up.

Your letter from Parcel Force will give you all the details.

The most important thing in the letter is your 17 digit Reference Number and the UK Reference Number starting 'EC'. You no longer need the Amercican Reference Number.

If there are no charges to pay (unlikely but fingers crossed) Parcel Force may deliver without sending you the letter. It has been known.

At this point, '16-06-2007 04:07 XXX Central Depot Awaiting payment of charges', if you had looked on the USPS website it would've said 'Delivery Attempted' - They haven't actually attempted delivery, that just means they're sending you this letter. That's why it's more accurate to check the Parcel Force site from now on.

If you do collect it from the depot, remember to take some form of ID with you with your name and address on it.

    thanks all.
I will monitor the extended progress then and see what happens.
Would i need to wait for a letter or could I ring them with the reference I have and pay over the phone?
    Thanks everyone
embarrassed to say I used to work for barclays..sorry
  • You would need to make sure that your local delivery office had the item first!

What IS in this parcel???????? I am curious!
  • They normally insist that you wait for the letter to arrive. They're very quick. Until the parcel is received at the local depot they won't know the charges and you can't physically collect it until it is at the depot. Try to be patient ....
  • I want to know what is IN this parcel to create such excitement!! :j
