Reclaim Direct Debit Payments is it genuine?

I've just had a call from a company asking for a list of my direct debits over the last 5 years, saying the banks have recently lost a court battle about direct debits being set up incorrectly and people can reclaim.

I haven't seen anything about it here - which I trust as the first source of financial information - and don't know if its legitimate.

They don't want any bank or personal details but I can't find anything about this on Google? Can anyone advise?

    I wonder why...............??
  • You have always been able to make DD indeminity claim if a DD is wrong, it is part of the direct debit agreement at the bottom of a direct debit mandate.

    HOWEVER........

The bank are collecting DD's on behalf of other companies, not for themselves. If you pay for a good or service via a DD, then you will still owe money to the original company.

This is a con, I assume that they would like some money up front, refundable of course (not)

It's an obvious scam. No one should be tempted to give ANY financial details to cold callers.
    Avoid.

Sounds like an interesting way to commit identity fraud on you.

    No such thing has happened.
