How can I hide my IP location

Hello.

I am a member of the anti-scam community, https://www.419eater.com basically in my spare time I bait scammers and fraudsters and try to get stolen credit card information or stolen bank accounts.

What I am wanting to do is hide my IP location. I am with talktalk and my IP address changes each time I turn on my pc, but my location remains the same.

I have used hidemyass in the past but my location keeps changing from country to country which I do not want. One day I can be in Turkey, another in the States. All I want is a static location.

I have tried some software called HideIP but if I select America as my location my internet pages do not load.

All i want to do is protect my location so I do not ever feel uncomfortable.

Can anyone advise on this please, so basically all I want to do is change my location from the UK, but have it in the same place each day.

Any 419ers here will understand my reasons.

Cheers.

    TOR?

Realistically all you can do is use a proxy (like hidemyass). Some may let you pick a specific country, but I have no direct experience I can offer.

Actually I have just been onto hidemyass once again and found that you can indeed select 'Maidenhead' in the UK. So I think I may have found what I was looking for. This just makes my anti-scamming more safe for me.

A quick internet search will bring up sites where you can list proxies by country.

Whenever \i go abroad I use Expatshield which fools the system into thinking I'm still in the UK by changing my IP address. This allows me to watch iplayer and 4OD etc
    http://www.expatshield.com/
This works equally as well in the UK it changes my IP address to a different one to mine. which is all I think you need

Go to http://whatismyipaddress.com/ to see what your IP address is. Once running expatshield go there again and see if its changed.
It works for me every time

So you want to tangle with obvious criminals, but want to TRY and ensure they can't find you once you have !!!!!! on their camp fire........good luck!
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it
  • Well surely the IP address won't get given out by your ISP - it usually takes a court order for that to happen. Not that I'm saying you shouldn't be taking precautions when deliberately winding up 419'ers although most of them seem to be pretty stupid but persistent.

And I think you missed the TOR mentioned already, so take a look at it https://www.torproject.org/
    Good luck.

Take a look at Tails, a bootable live Linux distribution that uses Tor:
    https://tails.boum.org/

    https://tails.boum.org/about/index.en.html

    • all software is configured to connect to the Internet through Tor
    • if an application tries to connect to the Internet directly, the connection is automatically blocked for security.
    Using Tor you can:
    • be anonymous online by hiding your location,
    • connect to services that would be censored otherwise;
    • resist attacks that block the usage of Tor using circumvention tools such as bridges

I think you're overstating the intelligence of these 419ers. ;)

I think you're right there. I recall a 419 baiting site with pictures of the scammers naked apart from a fish on their head an holding a daily paper (or some such) which they had sent to prove something or other to the baiter.

Another option to a proxy is a VPN - TunnelBear works well on multiple platforms and gives 500MB free a month currently upgradeable by 1GB each month for a tweet. Useless for anonymous downloads or streaming but plenty for a bit of browsing.

Your IP address is freely available to the owners of every website that you visit and (depending on the email provider you use) in some occasions to recipients of mails you receive.

But that is largely irrelvant as unless you are using an IP address that is registered to your employer then it tells nothing about you (mie home one shows me located in a forest about 40 miles from where I actually live).
