  • I have had a Vanquis card for about 8 years now I think. Never had an issue with them.

They increased my limit and made my a 'gold customer' and increased my limit to £1700. I have not used the card for a while because there are no perks to it such as cashback. I used to pay it in full every month.

They do charge a very high interest rate, but that should not be an issue if you pay the card in full every month and had no residual interest.
  • Personally I would say don't touch with a bargepole, thats cos I have just had an horrendous 4 year experience with this company (refer to my post on this "Vanquish anguish") They are telephone bullies and should be stopped.

I've received a priority invitation to apply for a Vanquis card (limit of between £150 and £1000) in order to "build or rebuild" my credit history.

I wonder where they get their list of potential cardholders as I have no need to build or rebuild a credit history. I've had credit cards continuously since 1971, currently have 3 to take advantage of various cash back/rewards, and have always paid off in full each month (much more than the credit being offered).

It's almost worrying to get the offer, apparently out of the blue.

Yes, I've had exactly the same with a similar history, though my credit history only goes back to the late eighties.

Currently have five cards with total limits of around 40k, pay off in full and mainly use cards with vp has back or rewards.

I do have a luma card for the fuel and shopping cashback and this has a relatively low limit so it could be that.

I'd wondered about the luma connection. However I don't see a connection between Capital One and Vanquis. I also believe that Vanquis could not carry out a credit check unless I gave my permission so they shouldn't have fished it out that way, should they?
  • I wouldn't recommend Vanquis - their interest rates are too high and they have the worst ever customer service.

The connection between Capital One and Vanquis is MI Money Ltd. (AKA Media Ingenuity).

Capital One services the Luma card, and Vanquis services the Granite card. Both Luma and Granite are ultimately owned by MI. (NB: MI also own the Fluid card brand, which is serviced by MBNA.)

I occasionally get their guff. But on the same day, I might also get a "priority invite" to get an Amex too, along with a flyer for QuickQuid and something trying to sell me high-net-worth investments. I suspect it's scattergun mailshots at random.

Either that, or someone's targeting algorithm is seriously messed up...
  • i've had a similar problem in the past a now use Aquacard (i think they are also run by vanquis). they keep putting the credit limit up every months so I must be doing something right and hopefully this will improve my credit rating again over the next few years
