help with lost parcels

I used myHermes to return a vanity unit which was very big and heavy
when I booked on line for collection I did not even check for insurance
to be honest I will never thought they will loose the parcel, this has been going on week before x-mas I payed and they suppose to collect it and it took them weeks and weeks until they collect it after I called and e-mailed anyway now they say that is lost, it and that cost me 109.99 now they say that the parcel was insured up to the value of 50 pounds, plus postage charge which comes to 57,20 is this right? can they do this? plus when they came to collect it I had another item which was big as well radiator cover, they got that as well and that cost me 17,99 but I did not pay for postage so they dont even care about that. what can I do? It is a lot of money for me to loose
thanks

Afraid very little now, insurance is presented as an add on during checkout and it was not taken

If companies paid out without insurance then no one would do it
  • I sent a £5,000 Faberge egg in a parcel insured for £50. Can I claim the full value?

Insurance is there for a reason, otherwise people would just claim every parcel lost contained ridiculously expensive objects.

Besides, how on earth did you miss the prompt for the insurance?! It's very clear. This is unfortunately a lesson in not penny-pinching quiet so hard... :)
  • i'm surprised they took it as your saying its very big and heavy

you got no chance of getting the full amount back

It's very clear on the Hermes website that compensation up to a value of £50 is included & if an item is valued over that you need to pay an additional charge for insurance. You didn't do this, so are not covered for the whole amount.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
