Getting back to job seeking

Hi, I hope you can help me with a question I have.
My partner is going through a difficult time just now. He lost his job early last year and and was claiming job seekers for about five months. Then in July he had a bad accident so went on ESA, filled in one of those forms but not had an assessment. He is expecting to be signed fit for work again soon. He's depressed enough but dreading the whole job seeking experience again even though he wants to work.
My question is, he's already had almost his full quota of job seeking allowance and as I work full time will that be it for him or will he get another six months worth of money. If he's not entitled to any money I can't see him signing on, and I know he should for his stamp. I hope that makes sense.

Sounds like he's had his contribution based benefits already, 6 months JSA or 12 ESA. Sounds like you'll be reliant on your income.
Depending on whether it is low or not you could be entitled to housing benefits or other benefits, but not the JSA0 -

I think we would get some working tax credits on my wage alone.
We are a couple with no children and I earn around £16k a year before tax. Won't they take the money my partner has had in job seekers and ESA into account making us not eligible. From what you say we'll have to rely on my wage alone when he is fit for work again. Totally confused.
Is it just one lot of job seekers allowance he'll get when he comes off ESA.
He had February 2013 to July 2013 on job seekers allowance
and July 2013 to now on ESA.The more I know about people, the better I like my dogs.

Yes contribution based, he worked full time for almost ten years before they made him redundant. I need to work out exactly how much he has had though I think he gets about £71 a week paid once a fortnight. His redundancy money means we have too much savings to get help with housing and council tax. He has been stuck at home alot since his accident. The more I know about people, the better I like my dogs.

I don't think he will get any more JSA as his contributions will have been 'used up'
You get 6 months on JSA, and 1 year on ESA, but I dont think they run consecutively, its an either/or I believe. So he has had his years contribution based.0 -
I agree that is about where you are.marliepanda wrote: »Sounds like he's had his contribution based benefits already, 6 months JSA or 12 ESA. Sounds like you'll be reliant on your income.
