Hi,
Can anyone on here advise me? I am looking to get an app built, there is a similar app but for a different purpose in the App Store. Should I approach the developer or look for someone new?
Any ideas on the best way to approach this market, I know nothing about it.
Thanks

Hello. My first suggestion would be to get hold of a copy of a Non Disclosure Agreement. I cant post a link so search on google for a free version. The Intellectual Property Office website has examples.
You need to get everyone that you tell your app about to sign the NDA. In the industry we are used to signing these agreements before clients divulge any information about this idea. If a developer won't sign then walk away.
Getting an app developed can be expensive. It would help if you could specify exactly what you want the app to do. Paper sketches are fine. A series of sketches showing each window of the app in progress would be great. It will help your developer to understand your idea and put forward an accurate quote. And you need to consider which devices e.g. iphone, ipad, android, etc you wish to target. Then you can by all means contact the developer or any mobile app developer for prices and a discussion.
One final point - making money from apps is hard as it is so competitive so its worth discussing how you intend to make money (monetize) the app with the developer right from the beginning. They may be able to advise you. Hope this helps. Best of luck0
