ppi and next directory

Hi, I wrote to next to ask about ppi on my account. They replied pretty quickly. They have said I have paid ppi since oct 2001 and that it was detailed on all monthly account statement and I could of wrote to them to cancel it. They also said they did not provide advice or recommendation on the suitability as they were not required to at the time. They go on to say they are not subject to the jurisdiction of the FOS for such complaints and next is not a firm regulated by the FSA for the purposes of insurance sales. First Assist Insurance ServicesLimited are responsible for the management and administration of the policy and to contact them if I want to complain. I'm unsure on my next step. Could someone advise please on my next step. Many thanks

  • You can complain but, as explained in their letter, the sale of PPI was prior to regulation and you will have no access to the Ombudsman. Any complaint can be rejected purely because the sale was pre-regulation.
