Closing a bank account - is my CC affected?

Hello
I'm planning to switch from my Bank of Scotland Reward Current Account to Santander 123, but I'd really like to keep my Halifax credit card as it's so useful abroad.
Does anyone know if I'll be allowed to retain the credit card once the bank account is closed?
Thanks

i strongly suspect so.
in theory, if you wanted a credit limit increase, for example, you may be less likely.. but i wouldn't hold back if you are sure about the change.
fwiw i use Santander as a Savings Account, purely for the rate, but don't fancy them as my main current account provider on account of poor service i have had in the past.0 -
You can keep the Halifax (Clarity?) card.
I would suggest keeping your BOS Reward account as it's a discontinued product and unlike a Halifax version can't be automatically downgraded if you stop using it
Just open the Santander account and do the move automatically.clockworkorange72 wrote: »Hello

Your credit card is a separate credit agreement with them and will be unaffected by closing your current account.
Having said that they could technically close it for any reason, this would be unlikely though. All that glitters is not gold.0 -

Do you mean open the Santander account from scratch instead of doing a switch from BOS?
If the advice on this website is correct, I need to use the switching service to open the Santander account if I want to get all of its benefits.0 -

Which benefits will you not get if you simply open an account and stick two DDs on there yourself (aside from any TCB, Quidco, or whatever cashback)?0 -
It does not affect it one little bit, I did the same thing last year with the same banks.
Mind you I have changed banks again sinceOwing on CC £00.00 :j

The advice I'm referring to says:
"To get these perks, use its account transfer service to move at least two direct debits and standing orders, and pay in at least £500/month (£6,000 salary)"
Maybe I'm reading it too literally?0 -
What advice?
The only thing i can see you wouldn't get is possible Quidco type cashback? You would lose the backup account and £5 monthly reward.clockworkorange72 wrote: »Do you mean open the Santander account from scratch instead of doing a switch from BOS?

The text I've quoted in my last post appears at the following link, in the full analysis section for the Santander account:
EDIT - I'm not able to post links apparently. Anyway it's in the Best Bank Accounts page.0 -

No need to switch.
I opened a new Santander account and I have all the benefits!0
