Hi all - some advice please.
DD laptop monitor (MSI CR630)
The display has moved to the bottom half of the screen so we cannot view the bottom half of a normal display. The top half of the screen is all vertical lines.
Is there anything we can do for this ?
Thank you from a panicing 14 year old !!

can you plug the lappy into an external monitor? if so, do you get full normal display? If so, it's the lappy screen or connecting cable, if it's the same on an external then it's probably the graphics chip that's knackered..........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

you usually can, most 3 year old laptops will have a hdmi output - although failing that it will be a vga, and so long as you have a newish tv, they usualy come with HDMI and vga, so itsa a case of checking the connections on the laptop and tv and using/getting the right cable
if its this one http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/laptops/1279684/msi-cr630 then it comes with a HDMI output so as long as you have a hd tv you will be able to connect it and checkDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
we have a relatively new tv which is apparently 'smart' - not that we do anything different with it. Will look for an HDMI cable and see if that works and report back - thanks.
EDIT ! - works perfectly with HDMI cable. Do I need screen replaced on laptop or is this viable on 3 year old laptop0 -
usually a new screen will be about £40 on ebay dependant on model
quick search shows this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brand-New-15-6-LED-Screen-for-MSI-A5000-A6200-A6300-CR500-CR620-CR630-X600-UK-/350675202316#ht_2486wt_1330 at under £40 although i would recommend double checking the detailsDrop a brand challenge

The only thing I would add is that you should take the screen out before you order the new one as sometimes the same model will use a different screen and you want to get the correct one. Screen sellers always state that they are not responsible for ordering the wrong screen and you can't return on their Ebay pages so best to be safe.
On the back of the panel there will be a model number, type this into Ebay and you should find loads of sellers.
Google the laptop model and screen replacement and you will normally find a YouTube video showing you how to take it apart.
Personally I have never done an MSI screen and different manufacturers vary in how hard they are to get apart. At least it isn't a HP, they are usually the worst to get the screen from without taking out a lot of screws.0 -

repair guys should only charge £15-£20 to swap a screen depending on how fiddly the model is.... £60 to sort it, only 3 y-o? worth doing......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

See if you can get hold of the service manual. There's usually a very precise, step by step guide to removing pretty much any part of these big volume laptops.
The only issue might be if you have to remove pretty much every part of it first and you lose your nerve/drop a screw into the keyboard half way through0 -
