Fined in private parking spot...

A few years ago i received a ticket and the advice at the time was to fully ignore it, which worked fine. Because of this i did the same with a recent fine and now they've increased it to £300 and upon checking here i see ignoring it is no longer the way to go about it.
The fine is from the end of Oct last year (at 3am ) so quite a long time ago.
The company is 'UKCPS'
The fine is for not displaying a valid permit (it was there but i had covered it with a sponge clearing the steam on a cold day).
What makes this a bit unique is that the spot i was parked in is one purchased by my landlady when buying the flat (Private spot, only we can park there under any circumstance). It just happens to be alongside others which are ticketed. The warden would have assumed it was someone else parked there.
I am mainly concerned because my Dad is the RK and is receiving the letters.
Does the fact it's a private spot help me at all? What is the best course of action at this point?
Many thanks.

There is no fine.
Read the stickies regarding private parking tickets.0 -
Thanks for replying.
Sorry 'fine' is the wrong word i guess.
I did read over the stickies quickly but this sentence took my eye:
"In England and Wales the advice to 'IGNORE' is now outdated. You must NEVER ignore a parking charge notice."
Perhaps i should have read into the sticky more before starting a thread.
CAN i ignore it (if i don't mind a load of letters)?
I'll read the POPLA info now, thanks.0 -
Do not ignore, if you are in England or Wales.0

If the landlady owns the spot, then they would need her authority to take it to court.
Which I doubt she will give them as she is your landlady.Be happy...;)0 -
Get a letter from the landlady and be sure she has the freehold of the space and, if she does, to include that.
If she has the freehold and owns it as opposed to leasing it, why does there need to be any permit needed.
You can still appeal to the PPC in any event but wait to the letter of authority from the landlord. You can even try your luck asking for a POPLA code.!0 -
If you did get a POPLA code then make sure you check the ''NEWBIES'' sticky thread because talk of permits doesn't win at POPLA.
More likely you'll get debt collector letters (ignore them now) or even a 'Notice of Court Action' from UKCPS (if so, see ''LBCCC Fightback'' sticky thread, linked under Crabman's parking forum sticky).
And UKCPS sometimes try Court but we could help you with defence wording if needed. There's no high costs & no effect on credit rating; no CCJ if a case is lost unless you then didn't pay in the end). So if you do get court threats don't see it as a reason to fold.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
