HELP! confused by my credit report

Hi, i was hoping someone on here may have some advice ad im at a loss as to what to do.

I recently recieved a letter from a company called Lowell who say they have bought a debt i had with Lliyds bank ( a debt which i have never know about). Its for iver £1000 so a lot of money for me. I checked my experian report and it says excellent which i was suprised by considering ive always been refused credit. The inly debt in there is for my overdraft wih my current bank which i wiuld expect and kot concerned about.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before or can offer some advice?

Im not very good with stuff like this so any info would be greatly recieved.

Thanks

X

Did you have an account with Lloyds bank? If not do not get into conversation with them.

There is a process and someone will be along to tell you what it is as I am not sure but don't worry about it. It could be someone with the same name as you and they are trying it on.

I get letters all the time for the previous person who lived here 3 years ago, I get them from Lowell and several other debt collection companies. I just sent them back not known for the first year, since then I just bin them. They occasionally turn up at the doorstep where they finally realise it is not me and sell the debt on again to another company and so round it goes again.
Life is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.

As you've gathered Experian scores are just meaningless numbers aimed at the gullible who are willing to pay a company that doesn't lend money to generate a credit score whilst individual credit scores don't actually exist.

Check your credit files properly and please ignore that silly score thingy.

What sort of debt are they claiming? Credit card? Current account/OD? Loan?

If it's definitely not yours, and not on your credit reports, then I would tell them to get lost.

  • Thanks for you advice everyone.

I have since spoken to Lloyds and they did sell on a debt of mine from an old account.

Called Lowell and have requested they post me all the statements etc.

It was from an account that was closed in 2009, so 5 years ago! They are saying it's for a credit card and an overdraft, will see what the accounts show as I know my Mum helped me pay off my credit card years ago.

I still find it weird how nothing shows on my report.

Does anyone know how long it takes fr bad debt to be cleared from someones name?

    Thanks

Defaulted accounts are removed 6 years after the default is recorded.
