Gas & Electricity Price protection 2010
I have seen article on switching gas and electricity supplier, but I am not sure if it would save me money! I am with British Gas for both and I signed up for Price Protection 2010 does anyone know if there are penalties etc if I were to change? Or if I would get a better price
Sorry if this is wrong way of doing this!!

The savings you could/could not make will vary depending on your region and consumption, however they will not be that great as the tariff you are on is still amongst the cheapest, even of the online tariffs. You would be charged a cancellation fee if you switched (not sure exactly how much it is) and if prices then went up in the next three years yours would to - you wouldn't be able to go back on the price protection tariff.
The best bet is to plug your usage and how you pay into energyhelpline and then you can decide for yourself.0 -
The cancellation charges are £45/£30 for Gas/Electricity if you leave before April 2008.
I am on 2010 price protected and it is still marginally cheaper than anything that is available for me.
If I was a gambling man I would bet other prices will have gone up by 30 April 2010. It would need some big reductions in tariffs to make me change.0
