Please help! I am getting conflicting advice!

Hello All,

I have had a CCJ Placed on my credit file and not sure about the process.

Won't go into details but i was conned big time and now have a CCJ for £1210 on my credit file. The judgment date was the 16th January 2014.

I have read that if i pay within 30 days of the judgment date then it will be removed from my file but then the next thing i read is that if i pay within the 30 days then it won't be put on my credit file.

The CCJ is already on my file and the judgment was the 16/02/2014 but i paid this in full today (12/02/2014) so will this now be removed or is it too late and will stay on there for 6 years.

Sorry and many thanks

  • I'm sorry! The judgement date was the 16th January 2014 and i paid it in full today (12th February 2014). Thanks
  • As long as it is paid within one month of the judgement date it will be removed once the court has been advised it has been settled. SO get a paid in full letter from the claimant and get that off to the court asap to speed it up. The claimant may notify the court but best for yourself to also do it.

When the court knows it was paid off within one calendar month they will inform the registry trust to have it removed from the register. The registry trust will then update the credit reference agencies. As said, alls take a little time, but it should go from your credit files eventually.
