    Hello :)

I don't post here a lot but parts of your post really struck a chord with me because of my situation.

To get a bit of extra cash, I started doing daily clicks on quite a few cash back sites (some of them were mentioned by chevalier before but there are also more).

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=333116

Good luck to you and your DH :) I hope everything works out for you :)

Yes, our situations are very similar indeed, aren't they? I felt physically sick each time I had to use my savings to pay hubby's debts, but there was no other way and he was trying so very hard to get a job. It was a horrible time and not something you want when you first move in together - it was very stressful. However, we lived to tell the tale and we're both in full-time employment now, so things can only get better.

I've just had a look at that thread and I was going to look into these click sites today, so I think I'll go and sign up with some. Thanks so much for your kind words and thoughts. The same goes to you and your OH x

All of yesterday and Friday evening we have been entering competitions. My head hurts! But, it will be so worth it when the wins start coming in (and considering we must have entered over 500 or more between us, we've GOT to win something, surely!!)

Nothing for Mystery Shopping yet, but I'm a patient woman.

I've had one survey, which unfortunately I wasn't qualified for (Valued Opinions).

I am going to join cashback sites for click-throughs today and hopefully that will pay off in the long run.

Next week (Tuesday night) we are both travelling to visit our families, until Sunday. We've been saving our loose change every month and put it in a tin to afford the journey petrol and we're pretty much covered, which is cool. We'll obviously save money whilst we're up there though, as won't be using electric or doing laundry at home (our parents will wash and dry our clothes before we go, which is cool of them) and we won't have to buy any food. Yay! Plus, we get to see the parents and the siblings. We were last up in the first week of March for my birthday, so it'll be cool to see them all again and I think my parents are excited to see me (I'm the eldest and the 'good' kid compared to the other 3!) Can't wait to see everybody again and to have some time off work, of course.

As soon as we come back I'll be putting loads more stuff from up the loft on eBay. I would put it on now, but am worried that people will ask me questions about the items and I won't be able to answer them until I return. I have lots of post-wedding stuff, such as faux fur shrugs, disposable cameras, table-top games, confetti etc. I should make quite a bit, I think. Can't wait.

Anyway - off to join those clicking sites!

Hi, just read through your thread, no advice but wanted to say hi and welcome to DFW. You do sound very motivated and already made massive steps to becoming DF.

IOW is lovely, I've only been about 4 times, which is dreadful seeing as I live near Southampton, but we have the New Forest on our doorstep.

Maybe one day I'll take a trip over there.

Are you or hubby able to get a job on the mainland? Or would that work out more expensive with travel costs and therefore outweigh any higher salary?

Guess the same applies with mystery shopping in Southampton?

Oh and I work in insurance (for my sins) and you would def need your own contents insurance for your own goods as your landlords policy wouldn't cover it. As long as you have your own lockable entrance and fully self contained, won't be a problem.... if you want a quote, let me know xx

    Hi tigzem

I wasn't aware we needed contents insurance. Is that a must? We really have very little of value other than our PC and ... well, that's about it! LOL

Our flat came 'fully furnished' - so the main furniture is owned by our landlord/landlady. We live in the middle of the countryside and landlord has lived here for over 40 years and never had any problems with break-ins.

We don't have gas and we turn the oven off at the plug after every use, so fire is incredibly unlikely.

Flooding is not a problem where we are (we're up off the ground).

Sorry if I sound naive - I don't really know too much about contents insurance!

Oh yeah, forgot to say - Mystery Shopping and jobs elsewhere are out of the question due to extra fees, like you say. The prices are pretty shocking! We did consider it when we first moved down here but it's just not worth the travelling costs.

Well, I joined Kate's 'Fab 4' clicking sites (Loyalty Shopper, Rpoints, Freefivers and Topcashback) and I've done today's clicking. I can't wait until I start seeing the results. It took me a very long time to do Kate's 'daily routine' for those 4, but I think that's because I'm still getting used to it. I'm sure after a few weeks I'll be getting them all done in 5 minutes or so. Practice makes perfect.

I'm going to add the 4 sites to my signature now, I think, so I can see the results every time I log on here :D

He is looking for evening/weekend work, as you suggest. I'm looking for the same. It's a bummer because we live on a very small island and jobs are very scarce, but we will continue looking every day and I'm sure something will turn up eventually.

Although full time jobs on the Island are scarce (and badly paid) there' no shortage of evening bar work (particularly in the season) and evening/night shifts in care homes. Perhaps either of these might suit.

    Hi,

No contents insurance isn't a must, and as you say if you've not got your own furniture etc then prob not a lot of point. So if you think if the worst should happen, ie theft, fire, etc and you'll be ok then prob not a problem.

The only thing I'd say is it would cover everything you own, (clothes/shoes/pc/personal items etc) and would be replaced on a new for old basis.

    HTH.

Yay for your clicking sites, it will soon add up x

Thanks for the clarification, Tigzem. I had a horrible feeling it was something I should have sorted out and hadn't! Yeah, I think we're OK without it. We really don't own anything of great value!

    Thanks ever so much.

Oh and to anybody else who has posted but who I haven't directly replied to - thank you! I've read and am taking into consideration every single post. Loving all the helpful advice I'm getting here. It's great stuff. Thanks to you all.

I tried an epilator and found it painful and a bit of a waste of money. Heard great things about the Philips bikini trimmer HP 6364, bought it and it's fab. No rashes, much less painful, cordless so dead easy to use. The epilator head is small so it's really easy to manage. Wish I known about it years ago would've saved a fortune on waxing! I'd really recommend it, it's in argos for £29.99 (I got mine with Nectar points), otherwise find someone who stocks it and go through quidco. Sometimes it's cheaper on ebay.
