Hi Peeps!
Just a quickie.
Want to check my credit file etc. As you know Experian offer free 30 day trial. Has anyone done this? Just want to check it's easy to cancel subscription before I go ahead.
Thanks

Hi hettiecarro
To cancel CreditExpert you just need to call our freephone cancellation line 0800 561 0083, which is open Mon-Fri 9-6pm and 9-1pm Saturdays.

It is easy, you just ring them up. But do be prepared to fend off a big ol' sales pitch. Once you say "no, thank you" eight times, they cancel it.0

They don't allow you to cancel online so they can scam as many people as they can out of the monthly subscription.
You'll be on the phone for half an hour trying to cancel. Probably worse than trying to cancel your contract with 3.Hope over Fear. #VoteYes0 -
Just be fully aware before you try. Unless time and efforts, doing phone calls is not matter to you.
It is only a very naive people will not be able to see the fact that they allow people to subscribe online but prevent people to cancel it with the same method when they applied.
Also the cancellation line is 0800 which is free but it seems that this number is dedicated for cancellation only, so when people call this number they already know that this is the people who want to cancel it and therefore could make as hard as possible to get in touch or they could prepare for hard selling.
it is separate to the number with their customer services.

Try Noddle it is free ...

If you desperately need Experian report then better to spend £2.00 asking for statutory report rather then spending your time and energy to cancel the free trials.0 -
I did it once. It took me 45 minutes to actually get it cancelled, I kid you not. I counted, I said 'no' or 'cancel it' 29 times.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

Very useful but very hard to get out of at the end of the trial period.
I left my subscription to run for a lot of months while my DMP was getting underway and when it came time to cancel it, while the chap on the phone was very nice, he was persistent.
In the end I fended off all his final arguments by saying if anyone can manage to steal my identity etc with my credit rating, good on them! He conceded defeat at that point.
Noddle is quite good though I may get a one off report from Experian in a month or two just to double check everything is in order now my debts are settled.0 -
Thanks everyone for your input.
I had a feeling about it and thought I would pick all your brains.
Glad I did now. Have enough to do without spending my life on phone to Experian
Thanks for link to others. Will give that a try.Debt at LBM £60k (July 09) Jan14 £5k Feb14 £4615

Personally I quite like the Experian report.
Granted, it's a monthly subscription after the free trial, but if I hadn't have signed up I'd have been blindly trying to sort things out hoping that it was having a positive affect on my credit score but not knowing for certain. At least now I can keep track regularly, and it's helped me prioritise things so I know what I can get rid of easily next in the queue.
I tried Noddle, but didn't get on with it myself. Not knocking it, just not my bag. Appreciate the fact it's free is obviously a big bonus.
I don't mind the Experian sub for now. I'll look to cancel as and when I can, but for now I see it as a necessary expenditure to help me get back on track. Plus I sacrificed some monthly treats to pay for the sub. I miss you, cheesy chips0 -
be very careful with experian!
I took the trial on, rang to cancel (took forever) they said thats it cancelled...
Then i got charged the money a few days later. Rang up, spent around another hour on the phone, they insisted they had cancelled it this time....
Another month and they took the money out again!! Another phonecall, they again said it would be cancelled but they would only refund me for one of the two months they charged me.
never again - stick with noodle its free!0
