Amazon sent wrong item. Rights of replacement

I ordered a Kipling (New Becky) laptop bag from Amazon. It was advertised in 3 colours. Black was £110, Brown was £99 and Orange was £60. I ordered the orange.

There was only 1 orange bag in stock.

Today a completely different style bag turned up in beige! And it had someone's photo id inside it - a laminated A4 sheet with a photo and typing in German - which is very strange.

I paid with a gift certificate and credit card.

My questions: Can I insist Amazon send me the correct style bag I ordered in one of the other colours at the same price as the orange one that they obviously can't supply me with?

Does anyone know why that weird id was in the bag?

Would be very grateful for some help! Thanks.

No. If they don't have an orange bag then they can't give you one. You are entitled to a full refund, and it is Amazon's responsibility to arrange for collection of the wrong bag.

Why would strangers on the internet know why an ID card was in a bag you ordered on Amazon?

The best thing to do is to click on the returns for that item in you account.

Amazon will give you the choice if you want the item replaced or a refund.

Wait and see what they do then.

Whenever I have bought a new wallet there has also been things like this in them - fake VOSA and ID cards - its for demonstration purposes only - so I would assume that this is what the A4 sheet was. To show you what sized stuff you could fit in the bag.

Thanks for your answers everyone, very helpful. Except for Tykesi's comment - in answer to this: I wondered if anyone had a similar experience of an id in a bag etc I have never ordered a bag from the internet so this could be common - I wouldn't know, so wondered if someone else did. Not so bizarre a question I think. Why answer a question if you can't be helpful? I can only assume you like to scorn people in forums. Nice.

speaking from experience get on to Amazon,I have an ongoing gripe with them,I ordered chairs and got a metal box weighing 13 kilos,the seller wants me to send it back,it was delivered to my neighbour while we were out

It could well be this.

Does it look like it has been used?

I know someone that bought a laptop from Amazon as a Christmas present and it had obviously been used as when they opened it they were asked for a password!!

That sounds a nightmare!

I never order from sellers, only from Amazon themselves. I even pay a little bit more for the same thing to save any aggravation.
