Ring them. Email them. Really simple. Don't get your hopes up - its a rarity.0

My daughter is organising a fundraising event at the moment. Half of the funds will go to a national charity and the other half will be going to help fund my daughter's expedition to Africa.
I have spent the past week emailing hundreds of companies to request raffle prizes (the money for the raffle is ALL going to the charity, not towards my daughter's expedition).
It helps if you write to local businesses but also companies that you have a connection with - either because you regularly buy their products/services or because their product relates to your charity/cause. That way you can personalise the letter to them so you're not just sending out a generic mailing.
It's hard when you receive the rejection letters but equally I have been astounded at the generosity of many companies, and I do understand why many companies aren't able to donate. We have received an expensive coat from one small clothing company and numerous sets of headphones from another small business.
I stumbled across this site today (after I had already sent out all my mailings) - http://donationrequests.weebly.com/directory.html. I've no idea how up to date it is but it might be worth trying some of the links provided.
Good luck with your fundraising. :T:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0 -
Another useful way is to ask around all the people you know and get them to ask their company for you OR ask if it's okay that you mention them when you write to the company. Having one of their employees involved often increases the chances of a YES. I would also second the idea about local companies and make them aware that their name will be mentioned on your website, publicity material (or whatever you're using to spread the word). Also, could you get your local paper involved? If you can get a contact there (they're always looking for stuff to fill their paper), then you can mention that you're in contact with a local journalist (and are hoping their paper will cover the event) when you write - i.e. good publicity for them. Good Luck.0
