Coriander ?

Hi everyone.
Just starting to think about what I would like to plant out come March. It occurs to me that since we starting eating more veggie dishes (have saved loads of money on food) we've been eating much more coriander so am wondering about growing a patch in the garden. However, I'm a bit limited as to where I can put it - we have a north facing back garden, though the far end gets a fair bit of sun in the summer. If I planted it in the ground, how high does it get? (I've only ever seen it in supermarket pots !)
Anyone had success growing it (not in pots)? How much room does it need? What about soil? How do I look after it?
or does it really need to be grown in containers (I could do this down the side of my house which gets a lot more sun).
Thanks.

It grows very easily in pots or the ground, and you don't need to buy expensive seed - I usually use a few spare seeds from a spice packet.
It does tend to bolt (start flowering) quite quickly though, so you need to sow a little regularly if you want a continuous supply.
Growing it out of strong sun, and keeping well watered is supposed to help in stopping bolting, so your garden sounds ideal. Start sowing seeds in spring (April/May)0 -
A tip from an Indian friend: if you have too much coriander (eg if it's starting to bolt) it keeps well wrapped in kitchen towel in a plastic box in the fridge. I've kept it fresh for a week or so that way.0
