HSBC confused me - anyone help?

Hi, I have recently finally decided to try to see whether I have had any ppi and sent out a load of SAR's using the MSE template to companies I can remember I have had credit with. I had a loan and overdraft with HSBC and recd the following letter from them:

....."I can confirm that following my investigations I have found no record of any PPI with HSBC. Accordingly there is no relevant information to disclose to you. Due to the DPA HSBC cannot keep records indefinitely therefore if the PPI commenced over 6 years ago, records may have been destroyed. Should you still require a Data SAR from HSBC for information unrelated to PPI please write to....and enclose £10 fee..."

I feel very confused and unsure whether to go any further /how to proceed etc. Not quite sure how to handle it. Any advice would be very gratefully recd. Many thanks.

Its game over on that one unless you have evidence of your own.

What part of that sentence do you find confusing, OP? The Bank are saying they have no records of PPI for you. Unless you have your own records,
    you cannot make a complaint.
  • Thank you for your replies. I thought they should at least send me my original paperwork docs so I can see it for myself rather than them telling me its not there.

How can they send you documents they don't have any longer?

They cannot send it to you if they do not have it to send it.

The reason behind you doing a DSAR is to see if they hold records because you dont. If neither of you hold records then you are stuffed.
