    Greetings one and all!
Haven't been around in a very long time but found my way back today!
Health is great now but mood and motivation seem to be at an all time low...have slipped back on all fronts so need a good dose of old style living to pull myself back together!
The days seem long and drift past. Someone said it's the retirement slump plus a year of huge health issues...whatever I need to get some structure back somehow...
My thoughts are with all those poor folks coping with flooding right now - living at the top of a hill is a great comfort these days. Really wish we could have some bright days, we're all missing the sunshine I think!
Hope you all have as good a day as possible!

    Think twice before spending anything!

    Morning all,

just in from town - it was this morning or next week, so I wrapped up like a lifeboat man and braved it.
Gale force winds and stinging rain - YUK. To make matters worse it is the day we have to put out the plastic recycling - it is quite pretty watching the pink bags flying about the road in the wind. It is usually collected before 9 am but there has been no sign of a lorry so I'm wondering if they have been pulled in due to the wind.

Lunch will be something warm and dinner tonight is one of the beef casseroles I made on my 'batch cook' day. Must have another cooking day soon, it was a resolution to be more organised!

DH should be hearing about his future at work soon - they are all very gloomy.

Time for another hot drink I think! Stay warm and safe x
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • Morning all,

Right so I've been to work (about to go again in a little while), done the washing and made some buns. I've been sitting here awhile googling to try and find out why DS2's tablet won't turn on. I have just sent an email to Archos tech team, so maybe they can help. It's times like this I wish I was a bit more savvy.

The rain has abated for a while but is due back soon. Where, oh where is the Sun?

    Sausages for tea tonight.
  • Really high winds here at the moment, one of the barbecues has gone rolling around the garden and it has turned really cold.
Went shopping this morning so all right for supplies if it snows, I just hope that it holds off until the weekend, I have to go to London tomorrow for a hospital appointment and the GP on Friday, where I am going to be down right belligerent I am so angry that the optician says that my sight is a cause for concern and that I need to see a specialist, but I have to go and have a "chat" with the GP before being referred

Snoozer I hope that everything goes well for you tomorrow x x

    Off to light the fire

    BFN x

Nowt OS for me today as at work.

Chores for later on will be for me to find my MOT stuff from last year as I know it is due again in early March. Wonder were I would have put it, hmmm. And I need to find an outfit for Sat night. I have nothing to wear and I mean that. I wear the same work trousers and then the same jeans as I can’t fit into anything else. Eek.

Last night’ dinner was an old favourite I knew would go down well. Just sausages, pasta, peas and a sauce from a packet.

Tonight will be chicken nuggets and chips as they haven’t had that in a while.

Still stick to my new recipe once a week. Made phili macaroni cheese on Monday and they both refused to even try it. I thought it was yum. Was my lunch yesterday!

My microwave started sparking the other day and I never realised how much I used it! Just to heat milk for my little one (I know she’s 3, but she doesn’t like it cold, haha) and just making cocoa and random things. My parents were going to pick me up one, buy my brother (who I live with and own the house with) is being snobby about it. He wants a brand make as the one I had (had it since before he moved in three years ago) was a freebie from dad that he won at bingo. Ho hum. I’ll just pick one up at the weekend and hope it doesn’t cost too much.

TIMETOFACETHEMUSIC – gosh, I wonder where the bead might have ended up. Hope she is okay now.

MOLLY41 – blimey, and I thought my split with my ex was bad. What happened to involve the police? Or shouldn’t I ask?

What’s all this about snow? Haven’t watched telly in days. Is there gona be snow? I hate the stuff, but my girls will love it. Hope it doesn’t arrive before half term though, too much hard work getting them to school in snow.

It took one look out of the window, saw the weather, said "I'm not going out in that!", turned over and is currently snoozing underneath its duvet.:D

Seriously though, I do feel for all those folks affected by flooding; we're so lucky here, *touches wood*. And I can't believe some of the comments the head honcho at the Environment Agency has made - Mr LW has suggested that Lord - Smith, is it? - should be ritually drowned in an attempt to appease the river gods!

    ¡Hola!
Just thought I would pop in to say I hope you all stay safe and dry in the storms. I would like to add being close to those flooded in 2007, the worst for them is not over yet by a long way. There will be so much damage insurance companies put it out to "dedicated" jack of all trades, who employ a lot of the same, rather than experts. If you know anyone who has been flooded, please tell them to line their own builders up if they can. Negotiations can be done with insurance companies/builders to ensure you get someone you can trust to do repairs. Any plasterwork or floors touched by the floods have to be taken off and re-done as flood water is contaminated with sewage. There is going tobe a glut of work in those areas.
Molly sorry to hear you have been in the wars again, hoping you will be OK in this awful weather.
LW you have stayed in the right place.
HH you need to go to your line manager and say the paper has arrived, and I need it put on the shelves can you arrange that please, or I need some paper lifting down can you please have it done for me, as I am unable to continue if I do not get some in half an hour. If she says can't you do it, ask her to come and lift a box then ask the same question.
Will go and take Skye for a walk shortly, it has been glorious here today, shorts weather, so I will try not to put photos on FB, unless someone wants to see Blue skies?
Haven't got anything out for tea, as DH wants to go for a cheapy Chinese, so who am I to argue??
((Hugs)), spoons, etc., all round, with an extra special wish that you all stay safe. Take care everyone. DG

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • Hi chums back from London and had a great day reading letters sent home from the front in WW1. I came out of the Imperial War Museum just as the heavens opened.needless to say not a taxi in sight so I walked part of the way back to waterloo eventually I got a cab but I was soaked to the skin.Trained it back to blackheath to pick up my car then drove home feeling very wet and squelchy.I just had a hot shower and three hot cups of tea so feel a lot more human now.
going to dig out something from the freezer for dinner and then its feet up in front of the box and watch some t.v.
    Have a good evening everyone

....GP on Friday, where I am going to be down right belligerent I am so angry that the optician says that my sight is a cause for concern and that I need to see a specialist, but I have to go and have a "chat" with the GP before being referred

My optician (Boots) was able to refer me to a specialist without GP involvement - maybe its because they are concious of other health concerns?
Chores for later on will be for me to find my MOT stuff from last year as I know it is due again in early March. Wonder were I would have put it, hmmm....

If you can remember where you had it done, they will have a record and/or be able to check the VOSA database for the expiry date.

Well, we're on a red warning for high winds tonight, and I can hear the back of the house being battered and its nowhere near peak yet. Just hope my allotment greenhouse is OK, it faces west, where the wind is coming from :(
  • Hello everyone,

First post on this thread but have been a long time lurker.

Left the house this morning with my cowboy boots on and soon realised my mishap!Had to tiptoe to the bus stop as if I'd gone back to swap boots I would have missed it and been late for work.

I got drenched leaving work, and going to Sainsburys then again on the school run. My little boy moaned at me to get My driving licence! If only it where that simple.

Got home and made a huge pan of soup, nice cuppa and toasted teacake, and had a wonderful hot soak in the bath.

Soup smells fab, just waiting for the other half to get in from work, also have some lovely tiger bread and cheese topped buns.

Weather sounds vile, very windy so I'm happy to be in the house with no where to go!:)
