This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Looks icy this morning, well can certainly see some on the car, and we had rain, snow and hail on the way home last night. Not looking forward to this journey.
Quick update on GDD and bead in her ear. DD used antibiotic eardrops in her ear for 10 days, then had to take her to minor ENT surgery for 8am yesterday morning. The bead has gone, but not by surgery, it had vanished of its own accord!
Better get going so will leave with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep warm, well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning All
Cold today but dry so far. We had snow yesterday which fell really quickly but there's not that much left now. Hopefully that's it for the year!
Congrats Gonzo.
Sorry, can't remember anything else from yesterday apart from odd families - I certainly have one too.
Hugs to all not feeling so good, hope you are all safe from the flood water.
Back to work today after the half term break, at least it will be a short week. Sausage plait for tea if I can make one - sausage meat left over from Christmas, last night we had salmon and loads of veggies. Needed vegetables after the weekend of over eating rubbish at my brothers, they don't cook proper meals but do have a lot of take aways, etc.
Have a lovely Wednesday all, take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone
Now getting light here, light cloud and a bit of wind, looks like we could have had a bit of a frost – when DH came home last night it had turned bitterly cold. After yesterday mornings’ yukky start the weather cleared and the sun shone it looked quite pleasant – the calm before the storm – I think as more bad weather is on it’s way – we have a lovely orange/pink sunrise again here – so weather will turn at some point today!
DH up and gone to work early but not stupid early.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg onion sauce, jacket potato, peas, and side salad, LO desserts for those that had room – they have now all been eaten and nothing wasted. Tonight will be a chippy tea as DS2 and myself have to attend a meeting at school regarding his trip to Barcelona – hoping it won’t be too late finishing.
Work yesterday was reasonable – hoping for a similar day today – but only working until lunchtime so will then come home and do the normal Wednesday jobs. I need to get a bit ahead if possible as we’re going away again on Saturday morning just for 1 night.
Keep safe and well x

Good Morning chums ,another wet day ahead of us methinks
I am off up to London for the day as I have some research to do at the Imperial War Museum for my nephew.I had to make an appointment to see a bod there as the museum is closed in great part until July as they are doing a special exhibition for the WW1 centenary. But as we will be in the reading/research rooms its not too much of a problem.I must admit I'm not looking forward to the journey much but needs must, and a bit of rain hopefully won't hurt too much.
Today is my big brother Davey's birthday and I am hoping to catch him in before I go out.He lives in rural France, so I don't get to see him as much as I would like .He is a rather special person for me and bless him he has had some tough ill health over the past couple of years ,but being a cussed guy he has overcome it .So if you're reading this Happy Birthday Davey, 73 not out, well done I'm so pleased you are on the mend now:):)
Right time to get a wriggle on as I have the M2 to brave this morning in the rush hour as well.
Our team came third in the pub quiz last night, which I am pleased with, well done guys and gals
Right time for some porridge to warm me up before I battle off to the big city
Have a good day chums what ever you are doing and try to stay warm and safe and dry
Cheers JackieO xxx0 -
Morning all,
Broken night here as we had the loudest thunder storm ever it woke us all and was kind of vibrating through the walls ! never heard thunder like it !
Day off today and once I have dropped dd at the station I shall come back and do a bit more painting, nearly there and I want the conservatory back (that's where I set up to paint)
Will put a wash on after this, and have a quick tidy round, dinner tonight is liver and bacon with onion gravy mash corgettes brussels and broccoli, really looking forward to it, been a while since I had liver.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning,
Slept well last night, but my foot is giving me pain. Don't know what I've done to it, hope it stops soon:rotfl:
Didn't do a lot yesterday, nor today. Windy and raining again:mad:
Had cottage pie and beans from the freezer yesterday, will have a look to see what to have tonight.
It's cold here, but I am reluctant to turn up the heating:o maybe I'll go in the sitting room with the fire on, and keep the rest of the house colder.:rotfl:
Have a good day all!:TI Believe in saving money!!!:T

Hello x
Had two horrid days as my head pressure has been terrible - anyway strong anti-sickness drugs and beginning to feel more human.
Molly dog had me up in the night - I think she was hungry but I put the fire on and she settled down.
Had a visit from the police re eldest split with cow face - I hope it is all over now - eldest says it is and policeman told me he wasn't in any trouble. Oh I hope he gets his life together soon! See Judi - we all have funny families xx
Thought with all those affected by the flooding. Are you ok Hester?
Hugs for an OS day xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Hi everyone,
In Yorkshire today - it had snowed when we arrived last night. Not much and now it's raining again, just for a change.
Little bro's appeal to big bro's better nature has worked and he has agreed not to speak at the crem, he will say his piece at the pub. I will probably need to visit the loo at that point and little bro says he will visit the bar. I know it seems petty, but little bro and I bore the brunt of looking after mum and dad over the last four years and to have older one come in and take over at the funeral sticks in the throat.
Apart from that I need to make beds and plan meals because we have DS and GF and DH's best friend and wife coming to stay after the funeral tomorrow. I hope the weather clears a bit so that we can do some walking over the weekend.
Mollie, sorry to hear you haven't been so good, hope you feel better soon.
Hester, good on you for keeping a log. It never ceases to amaze me that people don't realise that happy staff are more productive.0 -
Morning all,
rain, rain and more rain. The weather forecast snow for us too though we had snow yesterday but nothing stuck... probably because the rain washed it away.:rotfl:
Just sent a message to one of my childhood friends. Her son has been on dialysis for a few months now and goes in hospital in preparation for his op tomorrow. His Father goes in too as his Father is donating a kidney. What a selfless thing to do. My friend is in bits.
Slept with the electric blanket on last night as I was cold. I think ive mentioned it before, it only has 2 settings. One is so cold you cant tell its on and the other setting could cook you in 2 hours.:D You've heard of corned beef legs from sitting too close to the fire haven't you? Well ive got a corned beef front (since I sleep on my tummy).
Managed to do the side windows yesterday well ok I lie I persuaded 'Youngest' to do them. He did 4 windows in 5 minutes flat so obviously they will need doing again soon... but not now.
Just the usual chores today. The living room light fitting has a few 'hanging gardens', I noticed them last night when I turned it on instead of the wall lights.
Beef today, not sure what I'm doing with it yet. We'll see.
Thinking of you Hester, hope your home is dry,

Morning all,
Cold wet and windy here as well. We had some snow about 6 last night but it's gone now.
My middle boy has a window cleaning business using pure water, I worry about him in this weather but he loves his job, he says it beats sitting in an office any day.
We are out his house for tea tonight and youngest son is at his gf so no tea to cook, hurray.
I've run out of my iron tablets, I take a huge dose so feel a bit like a clock that needs winding:eek: I can get a prescription tomorrow thank goodness, otherwise all I want to do is sleep.
I have my six wk appt with my consultant next week, along with a dentist and a doctors appt. I have to write everything down or I completely forget.
Going to have a bash at getting my knee length boots on today, we shall see.
Bye for now J xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
