Vanquis charges template letter!

So my mum signed up for a vanquis card early last year. She was shortly afterwards diagnosed with lung cancer and in and out of hospital for while - since then she has been HOUNDED by vanquis over the debt she owes. She pays 20 a month off and they charge 20.8 interest. It's always the same, and the day before payment is due they ring up at least 4-5 times a day. I only recently found out she took out the credit card, as well as paying it every single month despite getting charged! I'd say shes paid well over 150 in charges alone and the balance has not moved. Phoned them today and had the phone put down on me.

Can anyone direct me to a good template letter I can send them to get this bloody interest and charges sorted out? It is stressing both me and my mum out she is scared to answer the phone now.

Btw the current balance on her card is £314

That's peanuts, can't she borrow the money from a friend or another (cheaper) lender and then pay it back more comfortably?

thats the thing - we dont have the money.! I work full time to pay my mortgage off and my own creditors and my mum is paying off her littlewoods and capital one. Myself and my sister are the only family she has and my sister is unemployed.

Even if she did have a lump sum to pay it off, i still think she should have all the charges and interest refunded to her.

    On what basis?
She agreed the terms and conditions when she took out the card. The interest is not any more than other credit cards.

Can't see any refunds coming her way. Sorry.

Heard plenty of stories of people getting charges refunded though?

You need to research these "stories" and see on what basis charges may be refunded.
Nothing you've said gives cause for optimism.

Same reasons as mine? A simple google of vanquis charges refunded brings them all up.

Send them a letter detailing what you said in your opening post and see what response you get…
    There is no template..
  • Look up your nearest credit union, may well be much less than Vanquis.
