Surveys - how long?

Hi,

At the moment all of the three in the chain are at the same stage;

- We are waiting for our survey on the house we are buying, via Nationwide (paid for it Friday 7th Feb);

- Our buyer is waiting for the survey on this house, they paid for it last Monday, lender unknown.

- Buyer has had their house surveyed and 'passed', seemingly quite quickly.

On reading the dates I realise I am being quite impatient however I am wondering whether there is a general 'hold up' with surveyors as I did hear that they are thin on the ground now that the market has picked up.

How long I can expect to wait before I hear something?

    Your vendor, or their selling agent, should be able to tell you when they get an access call from the surveyor and/or when the appointment for the inspection is arranged.

    Likewise, you or your agent will receive a call to arrange the valuation inspection on yours.

    Surveyor workloads in your area(s) will determine when the access calls and appointments can be done.

    Thank you for your reply kingstreet. There doesn't seem to be a huge amount of communication between the different sets of agents and solicitors and our buyer is a tad odd, one of these 'doesn't want to the rock the boat' type people.
  • Nationwide user here- paid Tuesday, survey Monday, report received following Monday.
  • Halifax - paid yesterday, survey being done on Thursday, hopefully we will hear back fairly soon after that.

    Good luck
