FVF Postage Ebay Query

Hi, I'd really appreciate it if somebody could help me understand the postage fees.

I understand that you get charged 10% on postage fees.

So, if I sell one item and have a £3.00 postage charge, the postage FVF fee is £0.30.

However, if I sell two items each with a £3.00 postage charge and then combine shipping at say £3.50 for both items (and send an invoice) will ebay charge me the FVF on the combined postage (i.e. £0.35) or the original postage at £0.60?

Finally, are more of you adding postage into your BIN prices and listing as free shipping now? I am wondering if that is the way forward for UK listings?

Thanks Hayley

I have found that adding postage to your items price and then advertising "free postage" people seem to like. I do this for all my items and they seem to sell well. Also you don't have to worry about people giving you two stars for postage because you charged them £3.50 but it was only £3.45 actual stamp price.

    I received 4 stars for p&p once although I charged £2.60 when it was only £2.60 :D

I had a buyer today complain that i charged £4.19 on an item that cost £4.10 to post.

I pointed out Ebay and Paypal only give me about £3.60 of it - so if they want to be precise - they OWE ME 50P :rotfl::rotfl:
  • LOL, I think trialling free postage might be the way forward. It would be good not to always be super aware of not overcharging on postage at all :)

I worked out the answer to my question this morning because I gave somebody combined shipping and the postage fees were charged on the combined amount, which was a relief! Still think it is really rubbish it is being charged on postage costs though. I have a personal collection to finish selling (I sold the majority about two years ago) and the states is a popular destination but the postage costs are high :(
  • people are fickle sometimes they look at am item for say £10 with £3 postage and think they are getting the item for £10

i have done this in past had an item listed for ages for £20 with free postage couldnt sell it so dropped to £15 with £6 postage and sold it

Same here - some people just look at the headline price.

Tried free postage - never works for me.

    Ditto. :)

Had exactly the same thing, changed from £19.99 to £15.99 + £3.99, got bid straight away!
