Cancellation help with BT - 7 Day cooling off period.

I just wanted some advice. Basically we are moving house, so I phone my current ISP (Virgin Media) to cancel. He offered me a deal which wasn't any good to me.

So my dad went and bought a BT line. This was on 30th Jan. They said the phone line will be ready next week (6th Feb). They fitted it and all is working.

But my dilemma is that Virgin Media have now come back to me and offered me a cracking deal which would be silly to turn down.

When my brother phoned BT today to cancel the line, they said it will cost £60 something pounds to cancel.

So just wanted some advice on my rights. Is it 7 days after we get the service or 7 days from when we signed up?

Is there anything I could do to cancel?

Once the BT line is installed and working then the cooling off period is dead and buried. You are then stuck with BT's early cancellation charge,which I suspect, will be a lot more than £60 as the installation of a line comes with a 12 month contract normally.

Just an update.

I'm glad things have happened the way they have.

The service from BT is alot better. Having free BT Sports is a bonus especially as I can watch it on 2 additional devices for free.
