Didnt he make 400k on his taxpayer funded 2nd home. Still he seems to have some fans on this forum. I guess stoking HPI would make judas popular amongst some on here.

....How did Osborne become chancellor and what relevant experience did he have. Did he run a successful commercial enterprise or have any deep financial or economic qualification?

You could ask that question of anyone who has served as Chancellor since whenever and get much the same answer.

Ah well, there is that. I can remember the reaction of the accountancy profession to the Enron scandal; we need better trained and smarter accountants. To which my reaction was; no you don't. What you need are stupid accountants who are so dumb they have no alternative other than to follow the rules. It's the smart ones who can find the loopholes that are the problem.

    Not really no.

    Dennis Healey
    Geoffrey Howe
    Nigel Lawson
    John Major
    Norman Lamont
    Anthony Barber

all had proper diverse careers before entering parliament, some also served superbly in WW2 (Healey), some were prisoners of war and escaped before being recaptured (Barber).

George Osborne work experience outside of politics is limited to a brief sting as a data entry clerk and folding towels in selfridges.

Sound good enough for you though. Perhaps we get the politicians we deserve.

Martin Lewis sold this site for £60m in 2012 with a further £27m to come if he meets targets by June 2015. It's therefore important that his message is loud, shrill and populist rather than correct.

If he's still as visible as dogs**t in Paris after this date I might change my view but I don't think he's a genuine 'voice of the people'.

    What's incorrect?

People are taking out 95% mortgages on inflated house prices whilst mortgage rates are at a historic low and QE, FFL, SMI as well.

Surely these people risk trouble as mortgage rates go up.

You've been saying this for years but I've just fixed for 5 years at 2.99%. By 2018 I'll have spent almost decade averaging c2.6%.

Maybe these people that you and Martin fear for could take a fixed rate too - they're at historic lows.

    Oh come on.

It's incorrect as you state so? What wasn't correct about what he said?

You'll know this but when talking crap it's always good to start with a grain of truth for the tangent to bounce off.
