Royal Canin Joint Supplements

Anyone used these for their dogs? I have bought them for my mini schnauzer who is currently rehabilitating following her cruciate ligament going :( as yet, she has not been put through surgery and we're hoping as long as we take it easy with her and she's comfortable that it will recover sufficiently without surgery.
The vet has stated the chances of arthiritis in this joint is now very high. I asked advice on joint supplements and have been given the above to try.

Just looking over people's experiences or even other supplements they have used that might help.

Sorry to hear about your poor wee doggie, hope she is soon feeling better.
I cannot comment on the Royal Canin supplements as I have not used them for my dog, but had great results from Lintbells Yumove.
  • oh no, poor little dog. My lab cross had a cruciate tear a year ago, he ended up needing surgery although he is considerably heavier than a mini schnauzer!

We are giving the Joint Aid for Dogs, although the ortho vet strongly recommended cosequin. We haven't changed, as he was already on the joint aid, and seems to get on with it ok.

If he likes water, it is definitely worth looking into hydrotherapy when his cruciate is on the mend, it has really helped to build up the muscles in Rocky's legs, and get his fitness back after all those months of restricted exercise.

Unfortunately water is a major no-go for her! She hates water. As I had though hydrotherapy would be brilliant. I'm hoping it comes right with time. She'll be 13 in May so I am loathe to put her through surgery. It really would be the very last thing I'd consider. She's always been such a healthy little dog.

I think I will just need to spend a lot of time researching the best joint supplements :)

I think different dogs respond to different joint supplements, and if the first one doesn't make a difference, keep going! I tried straight glucosamine supplements, then Seraquin, but the thing that really worked for mine was Canine Cortaflex. Also, with a lot of these, you have to give a double dose for the first month, to allow the levels to build up, before going onto a maintenance dose, so it can take a few weeks before you're sure something isn't working.

There's plenty of joint supplements out there - welcome to the Creaky Dogs Club!
